Bodies of work: Stasis | Surface | Other Work

This body of work utilizes doves, swallows and other birds as cultural metaphor. As such it evokes ideas of freedom, peace, hope, love, purity, innocence, knowledge, sacrifice or migration. But it also illustrates how society is in stasis – a hypersleep of apathy or a state of constant feud .
Intellectually the artist takes the viewer on a semiotic journey where he points out the frustrating ‘hangover’ that a lot of South Africans are suffering from.
Frustration at being caught up in a situation where we do not necessarily want to be in, or understand, not knowing the specific way out.
